It´s challenging but you do not have to be an extreme hiker
La Leona is not an easy walk, but it’s not an extreme adventure either.
You’ll need a basic level of physical fitness and be comfortable with an active day that includes walking, natural terrain, water, climbing and other physical challenges.
It’s a great fit for active travelers who are ready to get wet, move, explore and challenge themselves a little.
You´re not doing it alone
Our guides will be with you throughout the experience, helping you through the more challenging sections and adapting the pace so you can enjoy the journey without feeling rushed.You don’t need to be an athlete.You just need to be ready for an adventure.

Highly recommend! When you google La Leona you find SO MANY tour companies. The best way to experience the country you are in is to make sure you go with a small tour group owned and run by locals.
Magnifico! We had a private guide named Jason, had a fantastic time. Great Lunch, very traditional Costa Rican dish. Before coming on this trip, be ready to get wet and swim a little bit to get to the waterfall. I would recommend some dry clothes once you come back.

We went with our tour guide Enoc and he was amazing! Super friendly, spoke English very well, very knowledgeable about the plants, animals and the history of the area.

We was so lucky to book a tour for 7am because we had to had to catch a bus (all other companies there offer tours to the waterfall, starts first at 8 - 8.30) and our guide Dylan was fantastic. He could tell a lot about the nature we came through on the way to the waterfall.

Yes. Our Costa Rican family company is originally from Curubandé, and we know the weather in Guanacaste better than anyone. Although it rains during the rainy season, showers are usually short — often lasting less than an hour.
We only operate the tour when conditions are safe. If the weather allows it, we run the adventure normally. If not, we cancel, reschedule, or refund, depending on what works best for you.

Yes, ages 8+ with adult supervision. If you have children under 8 years old, we recommend booking a private tour.

This waterfall can only be accessed by hiring a guide. The reason is very simple, the waterfall is not easy to find. On the way you have to cross rivers, caves and we also have to swim. You will always have at least one or two guides at your side at all times during the walk.
